ZEUS

Zeus is a small neutered male (hearing) picked up as a stray in Barbour West VA. No information is available on what kind of life he must have had, but one thing is for sure: this little fellow is all heart and good looks. We do not believe he was the subject of abuse because he is so friendly and well adjusted to complete strangers the minute he meets them. In less than 24 hours he traveled hundreds of miles in transport with complete strangers and other dogs. The whole time he spent wagging his tail and giving affection to all.

We estimate that Zeus is about 2 1/2 years old, weighing about 43 pounds. He looks as if he came from good breeding as he has no faults that would have ever kept him out of a showring. He is a stunning dog in conformation with beautiful markings. His temperment is superb with adults and small children! He was in a foster home in West Virginia with a gal that baby-sits about a dozen infants and toddlers. He was exceptionally gentle with the children. Zeus is now in a foster home that has 2 large male dogs and 1 large female dog and he gets along great with them. In this foster home he will also be exposed to barn cats and horses.

Zeus is heartworm negative and on preventative. All of his shots are up to date. He does have a couple small injuries to his ear flaps which are being treated. He was a real trooper having a bath - jumped right into the tub! Zeus is housetrained and cratetrained and had no accidents even though he went through many changes within 48 hours.

Okay, so he can't be perfect, right? Well, Zeus still does not know his name which means he needs to be monitored until he learns it. He also has discovered that kitchens have great eats so he does not hesitate to investigate. Because he was emaciated from starvation when he was picked up, it has been observed that Zeus should be fed separately if there are other dogs in the house. This is because he has been imprinted from eating garbage and scavaging to stay alive. However, he does understand certain commands; i.e., "sit," "paw," and "no". He has not shown any destructive habits and rides wonderfully in a vehicle. Little Zeus will thrive in a home with children and lots of activity. His pictures do not do his striking good looks justice!
