ROCKY (Courtesy Posting)
I am currently fostering a 4-5 year old Dal boy named
Rocky. Animal control called me about him because he
was picked up as a stray and had a severely prolapsed
rectum. He sat at animal control for 6 days without
any medical treatment, and was about to be euthanized
because they could not adopt him out in the condition
he was in. I decided to help him, so I pulled him out
and took him immediately for treatment. Rocky's past
abuse included being shot...X-rays showed he has bird
shot throughout his body. He recovered
quickly from the prolapse and neuter, but took weeks
to get over the serious upper respiratory condition he
developed while at the shelter. I was not convinced he
would make it, but he finally turned the corner and
started to improve. He isn't over all the hurdles yet
though, because he has tested positive for heartworms. I'm
having him treated next week.
Rocky is calm and reserved, though he should probably be
in a home with no cats--he has shown an interest in
chasing mine for fun! He's very intelligent, very sweet,
and very sensitive to verbal correction. He has attached
himself to me and always wants to be where I am. He is
very affectionate and very calm, and I think he would do
really well in a home with older children, or perhaps
with retirees who can give him lots of one-on-one attention.
He loves to just lie on the couch beside me and be loved.
He is not hyper, so I think he would even do alright as
an apartment dog, as long as he got several walks a day.
The Dog House Rescue is doing his heartworm treatment,
and his adoption fee through them is $110.00. Rocky is
currently being fostered outside of Atlanta, GA, but I'm
willing to drive him a good distance for the right forever
home.
